Just got this one today on my trip to the local video/cd store. I will be watching this one tonight. Has anyone already seen? I love Coltrane, so I thought this one may be a good one to see. I couldn't find The World According to John Coltrane. That's the one I was really looking for.

AN oldone for as far as I know is out of print and was available on VHS at the tim'
It was THE BILLY BANG QUARTET
BIlly a JAAZZZ violin player had some SPECIAL talent but also some dealdy vices that took his and his drummer CHAZ (jazzman) Jones and then they lost a drummer to an OD in the UK on tour in 81 or so......
It was special tome cause I finally got to watch it get put together and got an understanding of JAZZZZZ
BILLY was one MANIAC on that violin...... another soul all you can say is too bad

One of my favorite Coltrane DVDs is a collection of of short films, titled in this incarnation "Impressions of Coltrane.". What makes this release special are four performances helmed by Miles (So What, The Duke, Blues For Pablo, New Rhumba) and two performances with my hero, Eric Dolphy (My Favorite Things, Impressions). We also get to see "Alabama", Impressions", and "Afro Blue" performed by Coltrane's great working quartet (Tyner, Garrison, and Jones). This is definitely worth watching and buying. The company is "IMMORTAL" (an apt name).
