Lynyrd Skynyrd Play New TV Theme 'Winning Isn't Everything' Live
Southern rockers' tune opens History series 'Pawn Stars'
By John D. Luerssen
May 24, 2013
Southern-rock trailblazers Lynyrd Skynyrd? have teamed with the cast of Pawn Stars for this live rendition of "Winning Isn't Everything," which will serve as the new theme song to History's popular series when it returns for a new season on May 30th.
Shot on April 26th during History's free "Party Like the Pawn Stars" event in Las Vegas, this video finds stars Rick Harrison, Corey Harrison and Chumlee front and center for the performance.
On the heels of Skynyrd's 12th studio album, Last of a Dyin' Breed, which came out in 2012, this new number was written and recorded specifically for the series. On a related note, Lynyrd Skynyrd hits the road next month with Bad Company for a summer shed tour that gets underway June 20th at the White River Amphitheatre in Auburn, Washington

Wonder what the "Old Man" thinks about this?

By far one of the saddest days in music history. We lost Ronnie Van Zant, Steve Gaines & Cassie Gaines of Lynyrd Skynyrd in 1977. A plane crash took their lives, just 3 days after "Street Survivors" was released. Here's a killer blues tune that we dug up by the southern rock icons.

I saw the band play at Knebworth in 1976 with Ronnie VZ and Steve Gaines et al. Steve Gaines really brought something to the band too. I had the album as soon as it came out and I was stunned when I learned of the crash. I can picture, in my mind, the moment I heard too.

Lynyrd Skynyrd has been among my favorite bands. Before the plane crash that took the lives of Ronnie Van Zant and Steve Gaines I feel they were a little stronger. Sweet Home Alabama and Freebird are their definitive songs.

Another of the greats call it after many years. Their Southern Rock Jamaica ship cruise with some other bands was just this week.

George, wonder if Freebird will now be requested more?
