You left off Herman's Hermits. Actually, you left out a lot of bands from that era (I know - "Other") but if you want to ask Beatles v. Stones, I'll take Stones. That said, I love the Beatles too.

There were a lot of great bands and artists during the 60s, including the folk singers. And not to minimize the contribution the blues guys and gals had to the emergence of Rock and Roll. Actually, you hit the nail on the head. When I set this up, initially I had it a choice between the Beatles and The Stones. But then I remembered back in those days, there was a lot of Beach Boys fans, so I added them...and then remembering the others one by one - I added those I remember as being extremely popular. I did toy with Dave Clark Five, Temptations, and all of those, but the list would have been unmanageable - ergo - the OTHER.

I voted in the poll but neglected to add a comment. Of the choices above, I'll go with Beatles over the others, though I listen to all of them.
In the Beatles Vs. Stones debate, I think the Beatles win out overall during their career. I like the Stones but I prefer the earlier years when they were still an R&B/Blues band. I begin to lose interest when they become a Rock Phenom. The Rolling Stones especially in the 1970's and after, I can live without for the most part.
