Growing up, Handel's Messiah was the mandatory staple, so I'll listen to that. Being a Bach fanatic, the Christmas Oratorio. And because of its curiosity value, this...(Arnold Schoenberg, Weihnachtsmusik)

Today is the Feast of the Holy Innocents, and this is the Carol for the Feast, albeit most modestly sung.

There's a bit of a story about how I came to acquire this for my collection. Tell y'all 'bout it sometime.
Looked in here and saw it not busy, but thought I'd add this just to keep it interesting Whitefang

OK. Have more time now..... One afternoon a few years ago, I was slowly(due to the snowy roads) making my way to a nearby store with my car radio on the classical music station. I heard the last few syllables of the announcer mention, "A musicalogical journey through the 12 days of Christmas..." And while molasses like making my way, thought the whole thing was ingenious, and it was still playing when I got to my destination, so I stayed in my car and didn't go into the store until it was finished and the announcer came back on, repeated it's title and informed me the recording HE played was by The Mormon Tabernacle Choir. When I got back home, I went online and did a search. I discoverd the recording the radio guy played was from an LP done by the Choir called "This Is Christmas", and a search for THAT informed me it was out of print. At that point, the best I could do was buy someone's old CD copy off eBay for $15. I passed. Keeping that in the back of my mind, I was in a thrift shop with my wife that following SUMMER, and to kill time waiting for her to thoroughly scrutinize their inventory, decided to browse through the shop's small box of donated old CDs. All of a sudden, THERE IT WAS! "This Is Christmas" there amidst all the other old CDs( "Dolly's Country Christmas" and the like)! I opened the jewel case to see if the disc was in there, as often the discs that go with the cases are missing, or some OTHER disc is in there instead. But the RIGHT DISC was inside. With the "Journey" track. I snatched it up, added it to the pile of crap my wife loaded in her cart, and only paid EIGHTY CENTS for it! When I got home, I put it on to see if it was still playable, and indeed, it was LIKE NEW! So, it seems the old saw is true.... Good things come to those who wait. Whitefang
