I have 3 cases that I have harps in, plus I have harps laying around the house here and there, a couple in each of the 3 vehicles I have. I have never worried about how they were stored, but I never leave them laying around without being in some sort of cover.

Temperature and humidity has more of an affect on chromatic harmonicas than diatonic ones due to the valves on the chromatic.

When I lived in Alaska, one 30 below morning as I was driving to work, I absent mindedly grabbed a harmonica that was laying on the dash of my truck figuring I might play a song. Well, you know what happened the harmonica stuck to my lips and it wasn't coming off. It took a few minutes of breathing on it before I could get it loose. The reeds responded to my breathing so the extreme cold didn't bother them.
