A while ago I listened to this album on youtube but despite there being a tracklisting there I cant find mention of the album on a discography. Is it a real album or a later fix up?

At least some of these tracks seem to be from the soundtrack of a french film entitled "Ascenceur Pour L'Échaufaud" (which are here given Titles in English) that Davis worked on. It wasn't a Miles Davis session. The group and session were under the leadership of French Pianist, Rene Urtreger. The soundtrack tunes were recorded at Le Poste Parisien Studios in Paris, France on December 4 & 5, 1957. The balance of the tracks appear to be from a concert held at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, Netherlands on December 8, 1957.
All of these tracks have been released before. The Soundtrack on the Fontana Label (662 213 TR) in France. The Concertgebouw Concert on the Celluloid Label (668 232) in Italy.
All of the foregoing doesn't mean that this material hasn't been released again but my guess is that it was cobbled together by a Jazz fan for other Jazz fans and set free in the internet.

Is there an earlier album with those tracks on? I like some of Davis'stuff but jazz is a funny genre. Some I like, some not so much.

As I mentioned above, all of these tracks have been released before. The Soundtrack on the Fontana Label (662 213 TR) in France. The Concertgebouw Concert on the Celluloid Label (668 232) in Italy. It wouldn't surprise me if everything was re-issued on CD, by now. You might want to check out Amazon.com and other sales websites to see if you could find this stuff. I don't really keep up with CD re-issues, but if I'm not mistaken, the "Complete" recordings for the film, "Ascenceur Pour L'Échaufaud" have been released on CD. I would imagine that's available out on the web somewhere. rooster
