All five constituent albums (from the Columbia days) are really good IMO. I love "Underground" (with one of my favorite obscure Monk tunes "Ugly Beauty"), "Monk's Dream" and "Criss Cross", but the other two deserve attention. Buying the music in this format is another issue; I'm a stickler on royalties, copyright and the like and generally avoid these sets (YMMV, naturally). I went for some of the clearer provenance Columbia box sets, e.g. www.amazon.com/Thelonious-Monk-Complete-Columbia-Collection/dp/B007Y2W4BABut, whatever....You can quibble about Prestige vs. Riverside vs. Blue Note vs. Columbia Monk, but the Columbia stuff is definitely worth hearing. Charlie Rouse's playing really grew on me over time, and he had a great partnership with Monk.

These are old recordings, and they are original, not copies. I'm confused.

I would have no concerns about it (I never have any - my bad, I know).

Sorry, my mistake. The "Original Album Classics" look like legitimate releases. I got them confused with the "Artist: n Classic Albums" releases, which are shoddy Euro public domain efforts with shaky reputations for quality (needle drops, mp3 sources, etc).

I ordered Monk's Dream. I figured it best to discover one album at a time.
