I'm just wondering who your favourite performers in your local scene are - the guys or girls you really enjoy watching but someone in another part of the world is unlikely to have heard of? Dan Walsh is our local boy done good - he has a well regarded solo career and is much in demand as a session banjo player, particularly as a touring member of Urban Folk Quartet. Last year he was nominated for Musician of the year at the BBC Radio 2 Folk awards. He can also be heard on the Pistol Pete Wearn album Service Station Coffee, available from Amazon, iTunes or pistolpetewearn.co.uk Dan Hartland is a cracking singer-songwriter (& close personal friend) who fingerpicks his way through his very good self-penned songs in the Americana genre. Jack Blackman lives slightly further afield on the other side of Birmingham, but he's still in the West Midlands & we've done a couple of shows together. He made a splash a few years back doing super-fast Blind Blake fingerpicking & he's just released his first album of self-penned material.
Helena Raby has been coming to the open mic night I run for several years, she writes very beautiful, delicate folk songs & sings them in her very beautiful, delicate voice.

We have a lot of great local musicians. Probably the most famous is Wayne Henderson, Master Luthier and a great guitarist: Each Friday night, we have the Floyd Country Store jamboree and of course, the famous Old Time Fiddler's Convention, an annual event that features the best of talent from the area and beyond. And there are several local venues that feature local talent as well as International artists For example, the local Harvester Performance Center: harvester-music.com/
