Good morning Mr. Ghost. Sorry you won't hang around and join in the conversation. We try to moderate this forum to make it afun yet informative place.
Your post above is one of the best I've ever read.
A big thanks.

Third eye Guest! Women are nothing but trouble. I have lived by myself for 15 years, don't want the aggravation.
As far as groups on Facebook go. If you join a Closed group you have a less chance of getting Trolls. Plus, I take advantage of the Security Features that Facebook offers. That's why I only show posts to Friends, and not the public. If people just took a little more caution, online. There wouldn't be any problems.

JMO, it's dealing with other people, regardless of gender. I do agree with your second point for the most part. But, even with that, the format of posts and threads in FB Groups vs. most forums is much worse. Even in a forum such as Keyboard Corner where they generally don't have topic areas, it's much easier to read and manage than a FB Group. For instance, FB hides older replies in a thread that has gotten long. If you didn't see it when it started, you keep having to click "Show Older Posts" if you want to read it all. Plus, FB puts all that other distracting crap on the page. Their Groups app was an okay way to avoid some of that, but they killed it.

Well I will say this. Facebook allowed me to reconnect with some dear old friends in recent years and make some new ones as well. A forum would not be able to do that. I have a lot of friends there that I'd have to message and give my email address to if I wanted to stay in touch. Other hand we're seeing how much porosity FB has and how it keeps changing the way it does things, which is frustrating and nervous making. Information is collected and for all I know it's in a file being compiled for some future use without my knowledge or approval.
So I'm on the fence about staying with them or not. They have some very good pages as well, from harmonica to magnet fishing to fishing and hunting. I would miss it if I let it go. Forums like this, while maybe not as well attended, still provide a good outlet and opportunities to be of help sometimes. I don't hang with many others besides this one. Chances are I'd look for a few forums to fill the gap.
We'll see what develops. I'll be here regardless.

You are right Pat about FB and connecting with friends. I've also found "LinkedIn" a good place to reconnect, particularly with old work friends. I've started a few FB Groups but quickly abandoned them because of the trolls and commercial interests invading them, even the "secret" groups which I now know aren't really "secret". I guess I'll keep my FB accounts and stay active on the one FB Group that deals with black and white blues. The Admins there do a great job of keeping it on point. www.facebook.com/groups/bwhillbillymusic/

I am still on Facebook, and plan to stay around there. But I visit this and one other forum most every day to keep up with music and specifically blues and harmonica, and add what I can. We had just gotten a Myspace page going when FB basically gutted it. I probably have an account there still but it's been a lot of years since I even knew my username. We are using a reverbnation page a lot, to keep our dates posted in one place and put videos up when we can. New camera on the way.
