Well, those are mostly newer country bands. There's no Buck Owens And His Buckeroos or Hank Thompson And The Brazos Valley Boys either. The only nod to to the real country music is Bob Wills' Texas Playboys (and really, that's Western Swing, which is a genre all it's own). The Buckeroos & The Drifting Cowboys are mentioned at the very end of the page as "Honorable Mentions". Please.
I think these kind of lists must be created by 20 year olds. (Almost) any working band before the 1980's won't be here. The main problem as I see it is that There's no sense of history in any of these lists (regardless of genre).
It reminds me of a friend of mine, a college professor, who at the beginning of term a while back was given a notice from the college which explained that the average incoming Freshman that year was born in 1993 and for THEM, The Viet Nam War has always been over, People have always had computers in their homes, JFK has always been dead, The USSR has always been broken up and so on. Even though these things may have been living history for HIM, for the incoming Freshmen had a very different view of where history began.
That would seem to be the problem. No sense of history.
