Very sad. Great player all around. He is an inspiration. I started hearing him seeing his name on album credits in the '60s on Wilson Picket albums but he kept showing as time went on up on all kinds of music. I was reading that early on he backed Johnny Horton and played on Bill Black recordings and live.
His first-ever album, containing a collection of hits he played on from Memphis to Nashville, was due out later this month through London-based record label Ace.
