So the Harry's gig was long. 4 hours, 4 sets! We've been doing 2 sets mostly, but we said yes to this one since it paid pretty well. Being new here and unknown we felt lucky to get on a couple of calendars! Despite the extra time it was a good gig. Jo's fingers were very tired afterwards and I think today will be a very quiet day here. But the audience liked what they were hearing and the p.a. and amps performed without a hitch. Yesterday saw me struggling with inferior tools and solder to get a good connection on the little Regal's pickup. Finally got it going in time for the gig.
WE have our gear very well lined out these days. 3 big tubs, one for the amps, one for the p.a., one for everything else that fits, one duffel bag for stands, and then Jo's guitars. It moves and rides well and the small folding dolly is a huge help getting the tubs moved in and out. Knowing everything is right there and cutting out extra trips to the truck- or sometimes back home for what we forgot- is a huge savings of our energy. Usually it takes about 30 minutes for me to get thigs set up and powered on. About the same to tear down and pack up.
Harry's is the only bar open year round in Carrabelle and has been there since 1942. Suffice to say anyone and everyone who wanted a drink yesterday from 5 to 9 walked in! Several people were very generous with tips even though we had no hat or jar, and we sold a couple of CD's as well. The bar covered Jo's libations and paid us as well, so over all it was a very worth while gig.
If we come back through here in coming years we will be stopping in to see about return dates!

We have one more date on the books right now, at Tamara's in Apalachicola, about an hour up the coast. Wednesday 2/13. 2 1/2 hours. Pay is ok and they have flounder that is just the best.
End of this week we'll be moving to Tallahassee for at least 2 weeks, I'm doing some job training, then not sure where to for a month at a time but hopefully back to the coast, around Panama City if I'm right. I'll be working 40 hour weeks but we should still be able to get out and find a gig or 2, and see more of this beautiful coast. Hurricane Michael hit Mexico Beach very hard and took out most of the town. I'll be replacing electric meters wherever it is they send me but that's the most likely place. It's about 30 minutes from Panama City.
It's never boring at the Jaw and Jo house on wheels!

Actually, here's one MORE on the coast, we just booked today:
Harry's Bar and Package, Carrabelle, Fla., 8 to 11.
So we will be here for an extra night before the trip north!

Change of plans! We're heading out tomorrow for Tabor City NC, where we'll stay for several weeks and I will work a few hours a day in trade for a full hookup site. We'll be not far from Myrtle Beach and Wilmington is within reach maybe. There ought to be some opportunity nearby.
The place in the mountains was pretty isolated and had more restrictions than I was willing to put up with. Not a cult really but not very relaxed either. So I got in touch with these folks near Tabor City and we worked out a nice deal.
Tonight we play one last gig on the north coast, at Harry's in Carrabelle. Gas $$ for the trip east and north!

Well it was a big drive to the coast through a lot of rain, to get cancelled and paid 25%.
