OK. Caught these guys in the movie ALWAYS IN MY HEART('42) with Walter Huston and Gloria Warren. The Harmonica Rascals..... So, be patient. Takes but a minute to get to their part. Whitefang

That's some fine jazz chromatic harp playing there. Far above anything I've done to date.

Here's a blues guy I've heard OF for years and basically just took the time to listen to recently. I count him as a real deal current blues great, vocals and harp and most likely writing as well.

HA! Good job. But as I mentioned in another thread, I'd say( and with the same style hat) that you DO remind one of this FABRIZIO dude! Whitefang

So, I didn't feel like going back through seven pages of this stuff. And I'm not sure if this guy was mentioned or not. If he was, I apologize. But then too, he IS worth mentioning more than once. Whitefang

Sonny has always been a hero and early influence of mine. He was blind in both eyes by age 10 or so and could not work in the fields, so he'd sit home and steal his father's harp and learn. Eventually I think Dad put him to work at picnics and such. He had quite a career, went very far, but it was not all roses and red wine. He had strife with music partners along the way= who hasn't?- and was a victim of racist attitudes for most of his time. But he traveled the world, played on Broadway, played for kings and queens, and was all over the planet for years.
His holler style is something I have never been able to mimic at all. His harp style was a very southeast Piedmont style which is sometimes more complex than Delta or Chicago styles.
The guy was a true music hero in my book.
Thanks Fang.
