Y'know, back in the '90's I was doing wedding photography for a company based in Chicago. Every year they'd have workshops at the main location or in some conference room in a nearby hotel. I've gone to three such seminars and always was angered at never either having the time or opportunity to find my way to one of the city's many blues clubs.
Damn.
Anyway, as the clip of yours is a half hour long, I'll have to get back to it at a better time. Whitefang

I was only in Chicago once back in the mid 1980's, so I could attend the NAMM show there. My friend had a music store back then, so I accompanied him to the show. That is where I learned about MIDI, and what you could do with MIDI, and a computer, and some tape machines. 6 months and a hundred and fifty grand later, I had a full analog 16 track 30ips tape speed studio with a 24x16 console, a stereo mixdown deck, & about 30 synths and samplers, and lots of outboard processing gear like compressors, de-essers, reverb's and delays and other stuff.
That is my Chicago story. I never had the desire to return to that city (or any other city for that matter)

Sometimes I envy this guy---
Saw this guy at the Grande in '68. Found a Chess LP with a lot of his stuff on it a few weeks later. Still have it BTW. Chess at that time put together a lot of compilations of their early and old time blues artists as blues was growing in hippie popularity in America late '60's and so. Watch the video and you'll notice an old photo of Jimmy sitting with a group that includes Muddy Waters, Little Walter, Otis Spann and Elgin Evans. I think it was taken at one of Chess' early studios. Whitefang

In fact the harmonica player in that picture is Henry Strong (a replacement for Little Walter)

I had been there 4 different but on 2 of those got do a few things. The first was '71. A friend and I were flying standby and had an overnight layover until we could catch another flight. We decided to catch the train downtown. From there found our way to Pepper's Lounge. It was in a pretty safe area. While there we met Hound Dog Taylor, Lefty Dizz and Johnny Young. I even jammed with them for a bit using Lefty's guitar "turned over" to play it right hand. After that we all headed over to Mary's Place (also called Teresa's ?) and caught Muddy Waters Jr. Junior Wells was there at the bar but Hound Dog said not to approach him as he was in a bad mood. Junior also has a 45 tucked into his pants that was visible when he moved a bit. Hound Dog and his guys thought we were from England! Muddy Jr came over to say hello at a break and told us he was "The baddest MF there ever was". Somewhere around 3-4 am a friend of theirs drove us back to the airport in his Cadillac with them. They hung out for a bit there and bought hot dogs! After they left we got some sleep in the waiting area then later that morning got on a flight to Pittsburgh.
