For all you bass players, why did you play bass?
I know I played bass first because it gave me an entry into a band. Bass players were few and far between, so by picking up bass, it gave me a need to exist. I was a guitar picker at heart, but bass player to eat. ;D

Well the first time I had an accident hurting my left fingers and couldn't play guitar for a while So every one around convenced me to Play bass (it is hard to play bass for inferior Guitar players) But I Needed the gig Lasted about 10 months Then every one seemed to Want me to play bass So I got rid of the thing!
Then Recording came along SO I got another bass Which i still use It surprised Me how many compliments I get on my Bass Lines But while I do enjoy bass while recording I would not Want a steady Diet of It

Funny I had run into this. I've had my bass for about 8 years and just play around with using root notes. But lately I've been learning the chord shapes and getting into it. It's working out nice for recording.
