Item #1
Several weeks ago this lady ran into Lynda's car with her uninsured golf cart. We made sure to have an accident report taken by the local police. My insurance company paid for the repairs and I went to the lady today and got reimbursed for my deductible ($250) and our portion of the car rental which was $249.62. So she gave 4 $100 bills and a check for one hundred which covers my end. What the lady does not know is; my insurance company is going after her shortly to pay them back at about $1700+ for the repair, (not my deductible which she already paid me) and $440 for the rental car. I did not enlighten her that the insurance company is coming for her. I did call my insurance company and told them not to pursue her for the deductible and our share of the rental car.
Item #2
Last week my mother in law was playing progressive rummy with my wife and her sister. As my MIL was about to blitz the girls with a winning hand, she put down a few cards, and was about to put down the rest when she froze. The girls called me over and when I got there the MIL was still sitting exactly as she was when she froze she had a stroke. The stroke killed her brain right then and there although she lived another 28 hours and died peacefully in Hospice. We got to hospice 10 minutes after she passed. The girls were very sad they could not whisper goodbyes in her ears while she was still alive. The did whisper to her off and on until Science Care came for the remains.
So that has been my last few weeks. Are we having fun yet?
P.S. Larry Miller Collision Center in Peoria Az did one super excellent job on the repair. The whole car looks new, the paint matches exactly They put on a new Fender and a new headlight assembly, painted and did a wheel alignment. We are waiting for the new hubcap on Monday she smashed the old one to smithereens, Toyota sent us the wrong one. I have had that car in once before for another golf cart accident a few years back, and once for my Honda Fit which had some rock damage to the passenger front side door. I was even able to pick up and drop off the rental car at the collision center which made everything super easy.

As for car stuff, looks like everything is 5 by 5 there. Some 8 months ago we were in New Braunfels, Tx., just looking around, and a gal backed into us in a gas station parking lot. I had a feeling she was hustling right w=away and sure enough her insurance was calling us before we'd got back home that afternoon. I got with our agency and talked with the adjuster, who told me they would not cover any repairs on my truck but I could go after the other driver's insurance if I wanted to pay out of pocket. Which, since it's just a rear quarter dent, and would be a real pain to get in and out of a shop, with no loaner, we blew it off. But word is that gal is doing this kind of thing every chance she gets, looking for quick cash.
As for your MIL, very sudden. We never know do we! One of my sisters had some form of measles as a kid and it stayed dormant in her system for many decades. Some 15 or so years ago she began having things go wrong, one was her body stopped producing melanin, which protects against sun and UV. She could not go out in the sun at all. She would burn in a minute. A few years later she had recurring bronchial infections and it turns out that the virus from that measles bout was back and destroying her bronchi, alveoli, whatever. So she was unable to get enough oxygen past a point. She'd been in home hospice for several weeks after the doc sent her home. She went peacefully after visits with many friends and family over a few weeks, surrounded by her daughters and some siblings. I thought she'd probably outlive all of us based on some of our behaviors and genetic stuff.

Sorry about your MIL DBM. My wife did manage almost two full years after her stroke, but it was a combination of dialysis issues and coronary strain that finally took her. And I'm curious.... Just what IS "Science care"? Sounds kinda Soylent Greenish to me. BTW---- Your mention of being hit by an uninsured golf cart amused me. Save me the trouble and embarrassment of calling my insurance agent and getting a quote on golf cart insurance and let me know how much that sort of thing runs? But at least your police report(I'm assuming) was accurate. In my daughter's case, the police report(with accompanying illustration) had the right front of her car rear end the car in front of her, but photos of her car clearly showed no damage on her car there, so her insurance paid for all the repairs. Whitefang @ The Fangster, Science Care takes the remains and uses whatever organs that are still good, and donates them to those who need the organs or skin. Then they cremate the rest and send us back the cremated remains, no charges to the family, we had zero funeral expenses for the MIL, and we received the cremated remains after a week or so. Both the wife and I are signed up to science care as well.
Golf cart insurance costs less than 60 bucks a year and we have it covered fully like a car.
I have my Mother In Laws Golf Cart in my driveway for sale. See below.
New $12,245 For sale-@ $8,995 Cash Only (Or cashiers check at your bank at the time of sale) (This line is part of my ads on Nexdoor dot com, and Craigslist)

That sounds OK. I should check to see if there's something like that here in MI. But.... I did notice the when my wife died, the funeral director kept calling them "cremains". Somewhat clever, I thought. Anyway....... The only people 'round here who'd need golf cart insurance(since we never see them being driven around the neighborhoods or on any city streets) would be the duffers who never start a game of golf without first visiting the 19th hole!
