My youngest son just called me today and told me that his oldest daughter just got accepted to be a student West Point. She wants to go into Intelligence in the Army, and perhaps after her stint in the Army she can get a job with some other national intelligence agency or teach. We shall see how well she does. West Point is no walk in the park according to my son, who is a national law enforcement agent in the Diplomatic Security Service.

As the father of two girls I'm always glad to hear that glass ceiling break! Congratulations to her and best wishes too. Whitefang

My son who is familiar with the military says she has a daunting task ahead of her, West Point is no picnic, in fact it is going to be extremely difficult on her to adjust to military life in the extreme. However she does not have to pay for college, in fact they actually pay her for her time served even her time in the school, she can't get at that money for the first year, but after that she gets paid just like any other Army service man/woman.

I hope the first thing she (and your son) remember is that they would not have accepted her if they thought she couldn't do it. That doesn't mean it won't be tough or challenging, but she's capable of meeting and possibly exceeding the challenge. I hope she does!

He was pretty sure she has the stuff to succeed, if she wants it bad enough she will make that happen. It is tough but the teachers will do everything they can to help her succeed, as long as she works hard at it. They don't want her to fail according to my son.....
