Can't say as I like it much so far. I was never a fan of Celestian speakers so tomorrow I will try it through one of my EVM 12L's. I was hoping for something less tinny sounding and hoped that the IV version was less tinny than the one I had years ago. I think it is the EL84 tubes as well. I have never been a fan of EL tubes either. It may have to go back to Sweetwater at my expense. If it sounds OK with the EVM 12L, I may try a Cannabis Rex speaker which I liked a bunch with my Hot Rod Deluxe. I am pretty sure the Celestian has to go. It does sound OK (mind you just OK) with the treble on the amp turned all the way off and the bass up half way and the mids turned all the way up and the guitar pot turned down a bit. I will fiddle with it a bit in the day time tomorrow, I kinda think it will be shipped back on the next truck outta town. But we shall see what it sounds like through the EVM 12 L.

Maybe different power tubes and better pre amp tubes would improve the sound too. But again you may just want to shop for a different whole box.

I have a Blues Jr III and the Cannabis Rex helped smooth out the sound quite a bit. I actually had the Cannabis Rex for a 4-5 years but wasn't in use at the time. I also tried some different 12AX7 pre-amp tubes and forget what I ended up with. With that I played it quite a bit then for some months but got a VG deal on a Pro Jr III which is much more simplified with 1 volume, 1 tone, 10" speaker, but still the same (loud)output as the BJ. I'm using it a lot mainly at home. It isn't as bright sounding as the BJ.

I'm looking for a good little tube amp to use both with guitars (I don't play much but I do sometimes) and with some keyboards like a Clavinet and a Wurlizter. The Fender Pro Junior IV showed up in an article I read and I'm intrigued. I wonder if it will be good for my uses.

I already sent The Blues Jr IV back, and good riddance to bad tone. It cost me $91.24 to ship it back insured for $660. So that is definitely the last time I ever buy something heavy and large online. From now on it is try and buy in person at a local music shop. I have learned my lesson.

I think it was the Celestian speaker truthfully. I did have a Blues Jr a long time ago with a Jensen speaker and it was decent sounding but nowhere near as lousy sounding as the one that I just sent back.

Maybe one of the Fender Deluxe Reverb amps would work better. There are at least 3 versions out there. The '68 RI one has each channel voiced differently, normal one with a more vintage baseman or tween sound and reverb channel with classic DR sound. Think reverb is available on both channels. They had a 20% discount thing going on until the 27th but maybe they will honor it. I had to print or copy a scan thing to use. I bought a Rat2 (of all things) as had a $20 gift card and that discount so got it for less than the pedal would sell for used.

Thanks amigo I have had at least 3 Deluxe Reverb amps starting with a mid 60's blackface, & I never bonded with any of them truthfully. I did at one time have a Rivera Design Fender 30 all tube amp that I loved same size as a Deluxe in cabinet design all tube with a tube rectifier and channel switching @ 30 watts RMS. It was an awesome amp that I gave to my oldest son when I bought my first Mesa Boogie a Mark IIC+. I miss that Fender 30 a bunch and not the Mesa. He got rid of that Fender 30 amp some years later. So there is no way to retrieve it.

Peavey built the Delta Blue 210 in the late 90's which was a good sounding amp with lots of options. I had one for a time and it worked well for harp but was really a fine guitar amp.

I never had a Peavey amp that I was in love with jawbone. The most I can say about the 3 or 4 Peavey's that I have had is; decent but not great. I am thinking that once I get my refund from Sweetwater, I will go down to Guitar Center and try out whatever they have in small amps. I am thinking I might just get a Fender Super Champ X2 and put in an Eminence Lil Buddy Hemp cone 10" speaker to equal the one I once had back in the day it is a hybrid tube/modeling amp with on board effects. That will be a good grab and go amp, guitar in one hand and amp in the other one trip in & one trip out. Small and easy to pack on the road. I might just get something I am not aware of in my trip to Guitar Center after the refund goes into my credit card account. It is all freeway down to GC about 32 minutes and 22.6 miles miles from here according to Google Maps directions.

Have you considered vintage at all?

Have you considered vintage at all? No jawbone there is nothing in the past that interests me in what I am looking for now. A lot of that stuff was good, but it is too big and or heavy. Or it has features that I do not use nor want. I am looking for a small amp, easy to transport, should be an all tube amp with a full tone stack. It should have a nice deeper rounder clean sound than the Blues Jr which by the way was ideal in everything but tone. So I am off to look in person at the big music shops in town maybe something will pop up. I am leaning towards the Fender Super Champ X2, I had one a few years back and I sold it which I should not have done. I liked it for road use to family and friends for my daily practice when I am away from home. It is not my ideal tone but close enough.
