Never heard much of his stuff, but liked what I did hear. It's sad when any bluesman checks out. RIP

James was kind of a west coast swing blues legend although he came up in the deep south originally. Never a top 40 player, he still had a very big impact and following. such was the quality of his skill set that guys literally lined up to work with him. If you check his videos out you get the feeling that it's just a party, but a very well informed musical party.

Seeing him live was a total treat! Multiply what you hear on his CD's by about 5. Total hoot.
