So far so good. They will give me a card to drive without glasses after the se4cond eye is done, because my drivers license says I have to wear corrective lenses. The vision is clearing up in the done eye. That eye was cloudy when I removed the tape that had that eye sealed shut for 5 hours after the surgery. It was all I could do to not remove the tape early. But I persisted and so far so good. Now to sneak over to Sam's club (about 1 half mile) and have the lens for the corrected eye removed. I typed this in without my glasses, something I could not do the day before yesterday.

That's really great Dave! Jo has no regrets after having hers done. She sees better than I do these days. A gnat at 10 paces!

I just took the glass out of the done eye side from my prescription glasses, and both eyes work equally now. I have 14 days until the second eye is done. And a week of recovery after that. Then 3 weeks later, I go in for my last checkup and probably a new refractory test to see if I will still need glasses.

Glad all went well. But you'll probably still need glasses as they're usually prescribed for vision issues other than cataracts. Cataract surgery won't correct myopia or hypermetropia or astigmatism. My Father in law had cataract surgery on both eyes( not at the same time, of course ) and was still required to wear his bifocals. Whitefang

Jo does have a prescription still, mostly for the left eye which still has issues. But it's a much lighter and less expensive prescription! I doubt you'll have regrets after this Dave.

Glad it is going well there for you Desertbluesman. Odd coincidence is that I too had cataract surgery on my right eye done the 25th. So far doing well and will return 9/1 for the left eye. I will still use reading glasses but longer distance should be very good without. I didn't have the patch after but they did tape on a clear plastic protective cover and add some oversize sunglasses. I only have to wear the clear cover now when sleeping so to protect from inadvertently rubbing my eye. That and use the prescribed eye drops 4xs a day.

Earle that's exactly what Jolene did. Here went great on the right eye and so so on the left. Left eye needed cleanup early this year and it's as good as it gets, but her prescription is much less than the old one.

I have a longer wait for my second eye earleg, mine comes on the 14th Sept. I do have several checkups on eye #1 yet to have done, and a post op on Sept 2 along with the second history physical on the right eye Sept 2. My eye doctors is one huge operation, I think the biggest one in Arizona www.goodeyes.com/locations/ the list of offices is long. However they are the most comprehensive of eye doctors that I have ever been to. So thorough, my yearly eye physical takes 2 hours, I see so many different assistants for different tests. But in the long run, they do a superb job so far.
