What's your choice? The poll has been set to allow 2 answers per response, one for Blues, one for Folk/Country.
I always loved Gibson for the blues because of the deep bass response, but Martin for Folk/country.

I love Taylors- every one I have ever played ( and I own two) has been fantastic. I've played a few Gibsons, Martins and they were great too but I've never owned any. I am not saying that Taylors are better than everything else- I couldn't say that. One thing I've noticed is that Taylors improve with time. The same is the case for many other guitars-especially those with solid tops but my Taylrs have definately got sweeter.

I've been offerred a Guild 12 string by a chap I know. I've played it once and it is a fine guitar but I just don't have the room for another acoustic guitar as I have four! That wasn't intended either-it just kind of happened.

I went with Taylor first. I two acoustics a 510ce and 814ce. Both sound and play great. Martin 2nd. I'll play my D12-28, when I'm around a lot of other acoustic players, just to break up the sound. My little small part leads sound pretty good too.

I have owned many guitars in my lifetime and found few which really 'resonated' with me. My current (and all-time) favorite is a Washburn Folk model (F48SW) which features solid maple back and sides with a solid spruce top and a mahogany neck. I must admit to having a 'thing' for blond guitars and this is no exception. For my (limited) money, I have never played its equal. This, as noted by others, is purely a personal thing. I can't afford Martins and I find Gibsons, in general, to have larger necks than are comfortable for me. But, that's just my opinion; I could be wrong. My recommendation would be to find a large guitar shop and try as many as possible. find the size, shape, and configuration that fits you and what you play; then buy it and enjoy it.

I've heard a lot of people praise the acoustic Washburn...Warren Haynes (Allman Bros) comes to mind.

It could be that a friend is buying my Washburn D10. It is a great guitar and if he does go ahead I shall be sad to part with it but I have too many guitars. I had a mess around with it before I let him have it on trial and was very torn.

At the bluegrass jam Saturday night, one guy had a Gallagher. I played it for a bit, and let me tell you, it's a great guitar.

I was going to say Gallagher and Collins are highly praised brands. Never had an opportunity to hear one live or play one in person. Will add to my list of do in a lifetime!

This Taylor GS Mini model might qualify as a best for the price. It is $499 w/padded gig bag. Gets 5 star reviews from owners. It is available with Spruce top also. Taylor GS Mini
