Mainly known for his Tenor Sax and band leading but also did some vocal recordings and played guitar on some also. He plays a soprano here >

RoySobit.pdf (87.4 KB) According to the attached obituary for a King Curtis discographer there's a biography due at some time.

Given that he was such a fantastic singer, I regret that he didn't make more vocal recordings. Of course, his sax playing is a lifetime study in taste and soulfulness.

Any recommendations for albums, tracks, etc. for King Curtis - both vocally and instrumentally?

Instant Groove, Everybodys Talkin and Blues at Montreux Live by King Curtis and Champion Jack Dupree are favorites here but have some earlier ones I like also. The mainly vocal one was on an odd label LP I found in Memphis and will get it out as in basement. Meanwhile King with Duane Allman from Instant Groove. Foot Pattin
