Likewise, I'm sure. So, who's Boston's MD since Ozawa stepped down? Sorry I have't really kept track. Whitefang

Was Jas Levine, but this is now Andris Nelsons' second season, I think.

Most of my listening this week has been Beethoven quartets played by the Emersons, and the Alicia de Larrocha Icon box.

So far discs 1-3. Soon the other 2, then I'll listen to some Debussy works played by A. B. Michelangeli.

A kind of recording they don't make any more, likely for good reason (it has modern violin + harpsichord; nowadays this repertoire is recorded strictly using HIP). But I still like it because I enjoy Grumiaux's playing.

Six of the eight discs so far. Got this set from Berkshire a few years ago, but only listened a couple of times and never fully delved into it.

Bach's English Suites p/b Glenn Gould Now the French Suites. Strange, I only bought this (4-CD box) a year or two ago (already had other recordings of the pieces), wasn't overly impressed on first hearings, but now I think it's a great set and highly recommend it.

Haydn string quartets, here. Played by the Festetics.
Cheers, ~k. Cool. Back in the days when I used to pay attention to sources like rec.music.classical.recordings on Usenet, the Festetics had a great (maybe the top) reputation. But their CDs are difficult to find now.
