More from the CD pile in the office - starting with disc 1 (which has the "Elvira Madigan" concerto) Bought this set years ago, so cheaply that even though one disc was scratched it wasn't worth the postage to return it. Zacharias sounds good to me here, even though he's re-recorded the cycle for another label.

Listening to a lot of Koechlin these days, especially the piano solo suite Paysages et marines.

Holiday for Strings made me think of Leroy Anderson (whose work I have come to appreciate). But I seem to find a piece by David Rose. One of the images of the YouTube collage is a Vocal Edition, which is definitely a hallmark of the era.

The Leroy Anderson piece which this incidentally brought to mind was Bugler's Holiday:

And now:
“Papa” String Quartet in d minor, Op. 9 № 4 Festetics
This proved a slippery slope, and I have also listened to the following D Major quartets:
Op. 17 № 6 Op. 20 № 4 Op. 33 № 6
Cheers,
~k.
