Wonder Woman because my girlfriend forced me to do it. Gal Gadot looks nice at that outfit BTW.

Wonder Woman because my girlfriend forced me to do it. Gal Gadot looks nice at that outfit BTW. I thought it was a good, even great superhero movie. I'm a big fan of the Marvel ("MCU") films like The Avengers and their ilk, I liked the Nolan Batman movies for the most part, and thought this was as good as any of those.

I just finished watching "A Big Country: An American Anthology" which is an interesting movie. Consists of multiple vignettes that depict the growth and social development of this Country.
It's a great movie that obviously flopped at the box office even though it featured several "Stars".
I think it is appropriate for our friends from other countries as it depicts how the immigrants were melded into the American culture.

Tom Hanks in Bridge of Spies a cold war movie. Otherwise watched Fargo and Pulp Fiction again. I'm way behind on current movies.

I recorded some movies during the free HBO etc., weekend and watched "Basic" most recent. Although not a high score on reviews and box office income loss was still interesting enough to watch. It had enough suspense and acting was more than adequate for the plot. The story is about an event involving Army Rangers on a live ammo training mission. Basic plot and actors

All the President's Men.
While I grew up with that movie, book, and facts being the background of American life, I've never seen that movie all the way through for some reason.

Phantom Thread - Paul Thomas Anderson (2017) Excellent.

Murder On The Orient Express - Kenneth Branagh (2017) Branagh seems to enjoy himself as Poirot but the all star cast are given little to do. A bit better than mediocre but can't compare with the 74 version.

The Passionate Friends - David Lean (1949) I've seen this a couple of times but recently heard Paul Thomas Anderson saying how it had been an influence on Phantom Thread. Beautifully directed and underappreciated gem. The restoration is top notch.

Superb, profound. The third I've seen by this director. (Don't ask me to spell or remember his name!)

I saw it on release all those years ago and more recently in an arthouse cinema presentation with an introductory talk by a bloke who said, "My father knew George Avakian."
