The pool, here has been open to guests all summer. I see a lot of masks in public here and in Natchez. Not too many on p[remises here. I keep my distance and have alcohol spray handy. Supposedly chlorine and sunshine are Covid killers. At any rate we are set up at least 10 feet from our audience. IF we get to play. Only time will tell.

Alcohol spray? I know a lot who just keep a lot of alcohol nearby not caring if it treats or cures anything or not! And no. Despite what feckless leader claims, chlorine and sunshine offer no proven protection from Covid-19. Whitefang

This situation obviously has impacted musicians all over, not to mention everybody. People in this Land of the Free are not disposed to follow directions so I doubt we'll see full compliance with any mandated behaviors designed to stop the bug. In my mind It's too late and always been too late. Alternative is, we are going to see this thing cover the continent and maybe the planet. Evolution in action, checks and balances and all that.
I'm in discussion/interview with a place near Gettysburg Pa. for next season. I keep hoping that this will have faded away by then but my inner pessimist scoffs at that. Still, I plan to take steps that may allow us to keep playing in public. Disinfecting cash, having a banner with the Paypal link on it that we stick up wherever we busk or play. Maybe a Square device that would let us get paid directly into our bank with our Smartphone. Maintain8ing distance as much as possible and keeping alcohol available to spray everydamthing.
To me quitting is not on the map any place. Adapt, okay.

Still, any mask has to be more effective than no mask at all. And where was all that "constitutional rights" hooey back when restaurants started posting signs reading: "No shoes, no shirt, no service" back in the early '70's? These anti-mask fools must've slept through all their civics classes. Whitefang Science and math as well. I remember the fuss of mandatory using seat belts and turning on headlights for rain and snow.

I use a mask every time I leave the house and car (I don't use a mask while driving) I spray the mask each time I take it off with an alcohol based sanitizer, I spray my hands after each visit to a store. So far so good. I go out shopping several times a week, I keep socially distant, wear my mask, hand sanitize.
My wife is a hair dresser so she is susceptible at work, they require masks in the salon and have the chairs set up so no one is less than 6 feet apart. They sanitize after each client.
So far (knock wood) we have stayed clean of the virus.

Sounds like her workplace is doing the right things, so I'm sure she'll be OK. Whitefang

We went across the river this morning so we could maybe play near the farmers market held every Saturday. It was not cranked up yet and the bench we found was in direct sun so we went back down the street and found a shady spot just off the main sidewalk and set up there. Under a big tree. Traffic was light on the walkway but it's where a lot of folks come to walk and be fit. So some folks were out. It was under 85 so not terribly hot or humid. A couple of local gals came by and listened from 6 feet away. Chatted with us about music and life, generally kept us company for a while. A few people did come by and throw a little love in the guitar case. A guy ad his very young son came and listened, and dad gave the kid a bill to drop on us. Love to see that! It was a nice time and nobody sneezed on us. Came home with a few bucks and feeling very good!

We did go play a big set in Natchez. Folks were sparse but a few gave us props. Couple tips as well.

So the Labor Day pool gig was cancelled today. Future uncertain but we're leaning toward the Hill Country in Texas as we'd planned a while back. I have a RV park job and we may get some gigs in that area as well.

Got the job confirmed. 20 hours work for a site! We'll roll in there early next week. That park has live music in their big hall. Protocols are practiced. Other opportunities in the area as well.
