Jolene has always had cataracts. 2 sets. Last time she had them checked she was told to wait on getting them removed. Which was good as far is it went but back then we had insurance. We don't now. Last week she had the eye tests done and the news was not good. 2 sets in each eye and a total new cataract in one eye as well. Her vision has been declining for some months now. The eye doc urged her to get the cataracts removed like now.
Naturally I want her to get what vision back that she can. It's pretty damn scary thinking how much her life will change if we can't get this done as soon as possible.
That in mind we did a GoFundMe page. If any of you can help it would be greatly appreciated. A big enough donation can get you a CD, or 2, or all 3. And undying gratitude. And good karma!
Jo's Cataract Fund
Thanks in advance. Good thoughts/prayers happily accepted too.

Good luck with that. Maybe you can provide a link to your gofundme page as going to the GoFundMe site got me nowhere. Whitefang

Tried to reply to your e-mail and it wouldn't let me. So, as they say in some movies; "fuggetaboudit!" You have enough anxiety over how the surgery turns out, you don't need the money worries too. Glad to help. Been there a time or two m'self. Whitefang

I must admit I have plenty to worry with aside from how the pay for this!
I'm making a list of donors and when I can I will be sending CD's out as a thank you.

I cannot afford to do go fund me stuff, my income just pays the bills. However I do have a suggestion. Call Texas Medicaid. Call toll-free at 800-252-8263, 2-1-1 or 877-541-7905. And if your provable income is low enough and your bank account is low enough, the federal government in conjunction with the state of Texas will pay for all or most of the cost of the operations. Google Texas Medicaid and see what the rules are. I have been on Arizona Medicaid, which is called Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System (AHCCCS) back before I became eligible for Medicare. And it was wonderful insurance. Check this out amigo. You can apply in person, and if they approve you can probably get the surgeries almost immediately at little or no cost to you. Better yet find the nearest Texas Department Of Economic Security Office and show up there when they open, you will probably be there a half day but it might just be worth it.

No worries DB, and we're working right now on residency so we can take advantage of programs here. We're looking at several options. Jo actually is on a list where possible after the first of next year she could get the surgery done free but it would be in Oklahoma. And no idea if they will approve her, she's on a list with a lot of other folks. I expect we'll be seeing a specialist soon and getting s proper diagnosis and cost estimate very soon.
I am about to send off apps to MusiCares. Both for Covid19 losses and this cataract issue.
Dave, your good thoughts and suggestions are all we need.
Incidentally, I may get a job near Mesa next season, 2021 winter. Are you far from there?

Mesa is about 40 miles plus, but you can bet I will visit if and when you get here. I live in Surprise which is on the NW corner of the Phoenix area west of Peoria on the map. I will come late morning and leave early afternoon. I do not want to endure the rush hour traffic on I-10 early morning and late afternoon. Best to visit on the weekends.

We got some good news today. Found a doc here who will do both eyes for a reduced price. The GoFundMe campaign's goal we just reduced from $10000 to $3000. Definitely more reachable.
