We've finally started meeting with restaurant managers, got one line up so far. 3 weeks away, 5 minutes from the house here. Decent pay and comes with BBQ!
There are a lot of possibilities around here so I expect we'll be busy this season.

It must be a tough time for small time acts to get bookings. Good luck with this phase of your lives.

I'll tell you, when we were on the road we sometimes had a hard time. When we hit Little Rock last early fall we could not STEAL a gig. Our stay in Vegas was truly a disappointment that way as well.
BUT people are much nicer here. Sure we've gotten some no's, but that's just the law of averages. We're getting a yes here and there. If you talk to the right places and present yourself well you have decent odds.
We're looking at gigs very close by at a few places and about to follow up with them after an initial contact. I emailed the library here and already got a response, my mail is being forwarded to the right guy Monday. Farmers market we have not heard from yet. Sometimes a face to face, assume the sale, exude confidence approach works. Sometimes an email approach works. We do prefer the one on one idea though.
To me the whole idea is to keep a great attitude, have confidence, stay positive, and keep moving through the no's. Even the no's here have been nice. We saw this in Northern Cal as well, and Wyoming.
If you know you have a great product it's just a question of presentation.

That first date was today, lunch time. GREAT gig. Good folks, nice pay, tips, a ton of BBQ to take home, and a return date on May 12! Jo played very well considering our a/c went out this morning at the apartment. So we were going in a bit hot already. Everything was set up just in time and we kicked off and went for it. The crowd was constantly changing over 2 hours. People coming in, ordering to go or eat in, and coming by to give us a thumbs up or a tip. Several toddlers got the itchy foot, which we always love to see. Kids boogie with no shame, just pure joy. This was also a big payoff to us.
We done spreaded some JOY! We'll be back there in 6 weeks.

These next 2 dates we've gotten sort of tell a different tale. On both- which are farmers markets- we sent our promo statement to them om FB. Both got in touch and both booked us after a phone chat. One pays nearly as much as a regular gig, the other is a tip only deal.
We have some follow up to do with venues we recently talked to. I'm thinking the season is turning over and it's an ideal time for folks to want to get their calendar puffed up. We were out last week and several managers asked us to get back with them later, so mid May we'll probably go back around.
Of course the best scenario is when someone we've sent a video link to sees it and calls us and books us.

Pat, I will continue to pray that you and Jo will get fully booked.
By the way, hope you are all safe during this storm season

Thanks on both wishes Jim. We aren't trying to go wild with gigs but a few a month would be sublime. It's beginning to be that time in life when one must budget energy and effort so as to have some left for everyday living!
So far Tulsa is in green to yellow which is low probability of bad weather. It's early days though. We're in a good solid concrete building here. There are protocols at the casino I am doing valet stuff for as well. The trick will be not hanging at the fishin' hole too late!

While I was at work last evening- around 10:30 or 11:00- a front blasted through with 50-60 mph winds and rain a little after. The wind leaned the first half of the RIVER SPIRIT CASINO electric roof sign over but nothing fell. This meant we were delivering all cars to the casino end, which is like 300 yards further from the parking deck. I did a few extra 1/4 mile hikes back. Believe me I feel THAT in my legs today!
Lyle Lovett and his Big Band played at the Margaritaville concert venue last night. I delivered cars to some happy guests afterward. They reported that Lyle and crew did a great show.

That can be pretty rough on an old man, but maybe it will get you in good shape.

I'm developing my recovery program. Shiatsu foot massager, back massage cushion, neck massager, glucosamine chondroitin, ginseng- BC powder!- eat like a starving dog as often as possible, sleep like the Pharoah. And do it again.

So today is our next gig, at Burn Company BBQ a few blocks from here. Excellent food, great staff, nice clientele, and it's 2 sets. Fountain Coke like old times. What's not to like!

A bit of a slow start but it picked up well. Got decent response from crowd and staff was real nice as well. Sent home afterwards with a cake tin of assorted BBQ! Love a gig like this. New mic with IMT did well though we had to keep volume at a minimum. I think it will show out any time we need more punch. Definitely worth a 7 block drive!
