So the p.a. head, when it dropped a nut came loose in the back of the case, that is where the head mounts to a mic stand. It's smaller than a shoebox but dense and compact. The head clips into the back of one of the speakers for transport. So the nut was loose inside and fell onto the board. When I plugged it in and turned it on to check it out the fuse inside blew due to the nut creating an arc on the board. The guy who I took it to diagnosed it well based on my input of what probably happened, and he set about taking about 3 dozen screws out to get the thing apart where he could clean up the short, replace the fuse, and secure the nut where it belonged with something like JB Weld but nonconductive. When I went to pick it up I plugged in a mic and checked both vocal mic inputs and they both sounded. An hour labor was about what it cost to get back up and running. Plenty fair.
We'll recheck it tomorrow with our "good" mics and make sure it all 5 by 5.

We had a hard one today but it was a success thanks to Jolene, my rock. It was just a stress week here. AND. I broke an eardrum about 10 days ago and it's not healed all the way. At home things went well music-wise but in a busy restaurant it was a different story. I was just off a bit. Timing and volume were a few ticks off of level. Audience was mostly not very responsive even though we did some real winners that usually get the crowd interested. So during the 2 sets we were a bit worried, but afterwards we got paid, got a big foil pan of BBQ to take home, and got our pay. Along with a next date in early September! Great props from Nick, the chief cook and manager there.
I think sometimes you can't tell how you're doing but others can. Nick was all compliments to us.
Jo stayed right on top of everything even when I messed up here and there, and got me back to where we could get through a song. So it was a success, a diamond even if it looked like a lump of coal for a minute.

Posted on FB last evening.
"So last Saturday we played at Burn Co. BBQ again, and glad we did. I had a broken eardrum and Jo kept us right on time the whole way through! And good news- our next date there is Sept. 8! Same thing, 11 to 1 lunch show. We also visited with Jeff at Elwood's, Tulsa's only outdoor riverfront venue, and he has us down to come in and play the evening of October 19, 7 to 10. We're talking with 2 other venues around downtown Tulsa currently as well. Stay tuned!"

Glad to see you and Jolene giving the folks in Tulsa a good taste of the real blues.
